Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Turkmenistan

Beata Pęksa was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union Ambassador to Turkmenistan on 1 September, 2023. Before this nomination, Ambassador Beata Pęksa worked as the Head of the Central Asia team at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Beata Pęksa started her career in the Polish administration in May 1991, joining the staff of the National Security Office in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. There, she dealt mainly with security policy issues, including the reform of the Polish security system and preparations for Poland’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union. In 1996, Ms. Pęksa moved to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she worked, among others, as Director of the Department of Security Policy, Deputy Director of the Department of European Policy, and Special Envoy of the Minister for Eastern Partnership. During her professional career, Ms. Beata Pęksa served as Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations in New York (2002-2007), Ambassador, Representative of the Republic of Poland to the Political and Security Committee of the European Union in Brussels (2008-2013) and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in the Republic of Iraq. Mrs. Beata Pęksa holds a master's degree in journalism and political science from the University of Warsaw (UW) and postgraduate diplomas in European studies (UW) and social psychology (SWPS University).
