Philippe Merlin
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Turkmenistan
Philippe Merlin is a graduate of the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris. He began his career at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris, working in the Human Resources Department from 1986 to 1989. From 1993 to 1996, he served as Second Secretary at the Embassy of France in The Hague, The Netherlands. From 2006 to 2009, he was Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Helsinki, Finland. Between 2015 and 2018, he held the position of Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. He then served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mongolia, based in Ulaanbaatar, from 2018 to 2021. On May 16, 2023, Philippe Merlin was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Turkmenistan.
