Rahym Gandymov

Mayor of Ashgabat

In 2003, he was admitted to the Faculty of Architecture and Construction of the Turkmen Polytechnic Institute and graduated in 2007 with a degree in Engineering and Construction. From September 2005 to September 2008, he worked as a first-class, and subsequently third-class, mechanical installer at the 2nd Specialised Installation Department of the “Türkmenýöritenebitgazgurnama” Trust, part of the State Concern “Türkmennebitgazgurluşyk”. Between September 2008 and July 2010, he held the position of engineer in the Technical Supervision Department of the Directorate for Construction Projects in Ruhabat District under the same State Concern. From July to October 2010, he served as Chief Coordinator at the private enterprise “Dost Gurluşyk.” From October 2010 to October 2011, he worked as Administrative Director, and later as Head of the Construction Department, at the Turkmen branch of “Hyundai AMKO Co. LTD.” company. Between October 2011 and February 2012, he was employed as a supervisor in the Department for the Supervision of Construction and the Quality of Construction Materials at the State Authorisation and Quality Control Centre under the Ministry of Construction of Turkmenistan. From February to July 2012, he held the post of Deputy Head of the Directorate for Quality Control in Construction within the same ministry. From July 2012 to February 2014, he served as a leading specialist in the Department for the Supervision of Construction and Especially Important and Major Projects under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. He was then appointed Head of this Department, serving from February 2014 to November 2019. From November 2019 to January 2020, he led the Department for Construction and Municipal Services. From January 2020 to July 2021, he served first as Deputy Minister and subsequently as Minister of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan. Since July 2021, he has been serving as the Mayor of Ashgabat.
